Prior to Arrival

A) DON'T FORGET YOUR PASSPORT!

B) DOWNLOAD WhatsApp

C) Make Sure Your Flight is going to Puerto Vallarta (PVR) Airport

What to be ready for

• Immigration process could take an hour , however, it often goes faster.

• bring a pen with you on the plane

• pen is for immigration AND customs (forms) to fill out (ask flight attendant)

• fill this out on the plane (they may not have pens)

• have your paperwork ready when you get off the plane

• You will then zig-zag through an immigration line (usually goes pretty quick)

• Immigration officer will ask you for passport and paperwork

• say you are “here for a retreat, or vacation”

don't lose immigration form receipt, you need it for return to US

• After this you move on to baggage claim (if checking bag) and then customs

• Baggage claim is just before customs (to the right)

• Then customs declaration (another zig zag line, but shorter)

• Customs prohibits bringing in items like fruit or animal meat

• Customs officer will have you press a button for clearance (it's random)

• If you get a "red light" at customs just put your bags through the machine (it’s random)

• If you get a "green light" you just walk through and you're done!

• If you bring protein powder or any supplement they might take it

• They may also not allow CBD products (randomly enforced)

  AFTER CUSTOMS, IGNORE THE SOLICITORS!

• When you walk out of the doors after customs there will be a ton of agents for rentals soliciting
Ignore them and keep walking, you can say you have a ride already (or say nothing)
• Don't engage with them, you don't need what they are selling
• After you pass through that gauntlet (jk, it's not that bad), you exit into the airport lobby

  ATMS in AIRPORT

• Once in the airport lobby, there are official (legit) ATM's located to your right

• We recommend getting MXN Pesos (cash) here

• You enter the amount in Pesos (5,000 MXN would be approx $240 USD - We recommend 5,000 to 8,000 MXN)

The ATM fee is also in pesos

• We recommend using BBVA or HSBC at airport (more ATM info below)

• Note: Once in Sayulita, there are not many ATM options

**You can also use your debit/credit card at many places in Sayulita but some are pesos/cash only

Exiting The Airport  - Meeting Your Driver

1) Walk past the taxi solicitors that may proposition you for a ride
2) If you have a private driver picking you up, they will be waiting outside per their instructions on WhatsApp
3)
Driver will send you a photo of themselves and a location outside to meet. If the driver was arranged through us they know the location of the estate and have worked with us before.

Uber note: You can also get an Uber. If you book an Uber you will need to walk to the left (once outside of airport) and cross the bridge to catch the Uber on the other side of the street/ramp outside of the airport as they are not allowed to pick up inside the airport. Uber map on phone for pickup is generally accurate and could be a little cheaper than a private sedan driver, but not guaranteed.

Driver Notes:

• A sedan driver is usually about 700 pesos ($35 usd) - Make sure to have Pesos
• Tip is up to you
• If you hire a private SUV driver, this is usually $90 USD one-way, or $120 roundtrip (back to airport). Private SUV drivers usually accept US cash. This might make sense if you are staying additional days in Sayulita after the retreat.
• Private drivers can also take you to a large SuperMarket/Grocery store before you arrive, if desired/requested

• Be sure to arrive to the estate between 4pm and 6pm. If your flight is delayed let us know! If you are arriving early, let us know!

Do You Need A Driver

- Message us to help coordinate this

- We can also try to pair you with other guests to save you some money

- If you are arranging your own transportation let us know

 MORE ATM INFO

- If Airport ATM is not working there is a recommended bank location in Sayulita to use: We recommend using Intercam Bank ATM next to Saint Luke's (sometimes these are out of pesos as well)

- We do not recommend using random ATMs in Mexico

- You can use your Debit or CC card at some establishments which usually have good exchange rates

- Some cafes only take MXN Pesos

Note about Travel Insurance

It's never a bad idea to have travel insurance!

If you are looking for a basic policy, you can go to Allianz (or many others) -- https://www.allianztravelinsurance.com/find-a-plan/onetrip-basic.htm
